While receiving her bachelor’s degree, Oneka built her own business from a hairstyle she created in high school because she needed stability for her family — and that experience really taught her what it takes to create opportunity and navigate systems from the outside.
For nearly three decades, Oneka Willabus has been deeply engaged in the democratic process—working around elections, supporting campaigns, and helping communities understand the power of their voice. With 29 years of experience in and around elections, she has seen firsthand how public policy decisions impact everyday people, and that experience has shaped her belief that leadership must always remain rooted in the community.
A proud DeKalb County resident, mother, entrepreneur, and community advocate, Oneka has dedicated much of her life to service and civic engagement.
